There are legal outsourcing blogs and there are more legal outsourcing blogs. I for one have no intention of hijacking my own blog to lay down the zillionth word on the subject. But while a great many of my fellow members of this exalted profession would readily screw up their noses up on a sniff of the word “LPO”, I have some affinity to the concept of a flat legal world.

I have the distinction of having once worked in a legal sweatshop for an amazingly long 5 months. While I clearly wasn’t hooked with the concept then, it got me thinking of the ways in which the future could move for legal professionals and our system of justice, not just in India but worldwide. There are incredible possibilities under the surface. But for now I will let the vision lie and make way for a modest section on this blog called LPO Diligence. I’m posting details on LPOs - six a month. Check it out and let me know what you think!

[UPDATE: I clearly haven't had the time to follow up on this - 6 a month was way too ambitious but I'll try to update this regularly]

  1. LPO Diligence is good but I’m not sure there are a great many legal outsourcing or legal offshoring blogs out there of quality.

Thanks. That could be true. You’ll also find a blog attached to each LPO website - just an extension of their SEO strategy of course.

LPO is happening, but it is not going to be like Richard Susskind says “the end of lawyers”. Firms like Williams Lea LPO have a good steer, they are helping firms like mine in Ireland to move our currently commoditised services to India or to their UK service centre. In addition, they work with us to commoditise other areas of our business and take that offshore too. It keeps us focused on what we are good at and it keeps us very cost efficient in this weird world of winning business on price. Regards Patrick

Great to hear from you Patrick. What services does your firm provide and what commoditised services have been outsourced?
